Sturfit November Update

Change of Centre Manager

After 10 years with the centre, much of it in the role of Centre Manager, we have now said farewell to Mel Fitzsimon who is off to seek some new challenges. We thank her for her many years of hard work for the gym and the centre and wish her all the best for the future. We may still see her about the place though as a gym user and maybe even occasional cover staff.

Roger Teasdale, who has been Assistant Manager for the last 2 and a half years will now take on the role of Centre Manager. He is being joined by two new Gym Instructors, Hayley and Leighton.

Contacting Sturfit

The best and quickest way to contact us is by phone or email, we do operate a Facebook page, but this cannot always be monitored for posts and messages. If you have a general enquiry then use ‘hello@sturfit.org’, if it is booking specific then use ‘bookings@sturfit.org’ These are both monitored by whoever is on shift at the time. If you wish to contact Roger then please use ‘roger@sturfit.org’. Our phone number remains 01258 471774.

Gym Survey

Many thanks to everyone that took part in our gym survey – over 60 of you took part and it has helped us clarify a picture of equipment usage and given us great feedback on things we could improve on as well as things you are very pleased with. In general, everyone sees the gym as great value and provides a suitably wide range of equipment. Obviously, there were comments that we are unable to do much about – we can’t make the building/gym any bigger I’m afraid. Some people asked for more cardio equipment and a similar number asked for more strength training equipment but as our floorspace is currently full we could not increase one of these without decreasing the other. We have now got a great picture of least used equipment and the sort of things that you would like to see added to gym. As and when funds become available, we will make these improvements.

The most interesting output from the survey was the ‘equipment usage weighted by gym visit frequency’ chart.  The highest ranked was the ‘Precor Glide’ (the 2 double stacked cable resistance machines). There is a copy of this displayed in the gym and I could also send you one by email indivually if you would like to see it.

Your feedback is valuable to us and we would love to hear from you at any time. We pick up on a lot through observing and chatting with users but please feel free to send us an email or message with your views.

Upcoming

Bounce and Play Sessions – we already have Bounceabout booked for Thursday 29th December. Due to the popularity the last time we ran this we may need to make the sessions pre-booked again. More details will come out in early December.

Sport drop-in sessions – we are planning in running a few of these sessions again for children and their families to have a go at table tennis, badminton and basketball. These will be the week of 19-23 December in the mornings and further details will come out in early December.

Hope to see you at the Centre soon!
