Today I bring you something very different, something far more gentle in fact. Here are some excellent breathing exercises from Zanespilatesyoga to help relax and de-stress you which in these times in particular are just perfect 🙂

Pranayama or breathing exercises should be practiced regularly to see the benefits.

Here are some short instructions and benefits of this exercise.

Nadi Sodhana or Anuloma Viloma pranayama (Alternate Nostril Breathing) involves alternate breathing through the right and left nostrils.

Benefits or why we should practice this breathing exercise:

Helps purify and balance the nadis (the subtle energy channels)
Balances the flow of energy between the left and right sides of the body
Improves lung function and respiratory endurance
Alleviates couch disorders
Reduces stress, anxiety
Helps to improve concentration
Beneficial to hypertension (high blood pressure)

Points to remember:
Do not force the breathing, keep the flow gentle and natural
Do not breathe from the mouth or make any sound while breathing
Sit comfortably with straight back and relaxed shoulders
Practice on empty stomach, 2-3 times a day
